Gotemba Outlet Smoking Areas: Complete Guide with Map 2026
Language Switcher

Gotemba Premium Outlets stretches nearly 2 kilometers from one end to the other — and that's a long way to walk if you have no idea where the smoking areas are. I've visited Gotemba more times than I can count, and trust me: knowing the spots before you arrive makes the day a lot more relaxed.

There are 7 designated smoking areas spread across three zones — WEST ZONE, EAST ZONE, and HILL SIDE. Some are compact booths tucked between stores. Others come with seating, parasols, and even vending machines. One has a covered roof that makes it the obvious pick on a rainy day. All of them are free to use.

This guide covers all 7 spots with photos and clear directions. I've also included where to buy cigarettes inside the outlet, a map you can reference before you go, answers to common questions about WiFi, ATMs, and shuttle buses, and real reviews from visitors who've been there.

WEST ZONE Smoking Areas (2 Spots)

WEST ZONE is where you'll find the main entrance, the bus terminal, and P2 Parking Lot. It's the first zone most visitors pass through, and both smoking spots here are easy to reach right after you arrive — or just before you leave.

① Near P2 Parking Lot — Beside IDEBOX

IDEBOX at Gotemba Premium Outlets WEST ZONE

IDEBOX (いでぼく) marks the spot. Head past the restrooms on the left side and you'll find the smoking booth tucked behind them.

Smoking Area Near P2 Parking Lot at Gotemba Outlet WEST ZONE

The first smoking spot is right next to P2 Parking Lot — look for the IDEBOX dairy shop, then walk left past the restrooms. It's a compact, no-frills booth: no chairs, no parasol. But if you drove in and parked at P2, this is the closest spot to your car. Perfect for a quick smoke right after you park, or just before heading home.

② Near the Bus Terminal — Between the Bus Stop and GAP

Smoking Area Near Bus Terminal at Gotemba Outlet WEST ZONE

The second WEST ZONE spot sits between the Bus Terminal and the GAP store. Easy to spot, easy to reach.

This one sits right between the bus stop and the GAP store. If you're coming in from Tokyo, Shinjuku, Yokohama, or Mishima by bus, this is the first smoking area you'll pass. It's also ideal for the wait before your return bus — close enough that you won't miss your departure. Spot #② and the 7-Eleven (cigarette purchase point) are practically neighbors, so this is your go-to if you need to buy smokes too.

EAST ZONE Smoking Areas (3 Spots)

EAST ZONE is where most of the dining action happens — the food court (FOOD BAZAAR), casual restaurants, and plenty of brand-name stores. Naturally, three smoking spots are spaced out across the zone so you don't have to wander far after a meal.

③ Near the Food Court (FOOD BAZAAR) — Covered Roof

Covered Smoking Area Near Food Bazaar at Gotemba Outlet EAST ZONE

Head between the Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge and FOOD BAZAAR, then walk toward the back. The covered booth is at the end.

Head into the gap between the Yume-no-Ohashi Bridge and FOOD BAZAAR, then keep walking toward the back of the zone. This is the only smoking spot at Gotemba with a proper roof over it — which makes it the best option on a rainy day. Grab lunch at the food court, then step right over here afterward. It doesn't get more convenient than this.

④ Near P5 Parking Lot — Right of Benitora Shaochi Ten

Benitora Shaochi Ten at Gotemba Outlet EAST ZONE

Walk past Benitora Shaochi Ten (the red tiger restaurant) on your right — P5 Parking Lot and the smoking booth are straight ahead.

From the Benitora Shaochi Ten restaurant, turn right and walk toward the back of EAST ZONE. The smoking area appears just before P5 Parking Lot. It's a compact booth, but it's the most convenient option if you parked in P5 or if you're shopping the far end of EAST ZONE.

⑤ Near P7 Parking Lot — Best Facilities of All 7 Spots

P7 Parking Lot at Gotemba Outlet EAST ZONE

Head toward P7 Parking Lot from EAST ZONE, then turn left. The smoking spot is right there — the most well-equipped of all 7.

Smoking Area Near P7 Parking Lot — Best Facilities at Gotemba Outlet

This is the one most regular visitors point to first. Chairs, a large parasol, and a vending machine — it's the only smoking spot at Gotemba set up for a proper rest. If your travel companion is still working through the stores and you've hit your limit, this is the spot to wait it out comfortably. P7 is also known as one of the least congested parking lots on busy days, so if you're driving, it's worth knowing about both the lot and this smoking spot.

HILL SIDE Smoking Areas (2 Spots)

HILL SIDE is the quieter end of the outlet — further from the main entrance but worth the walk. It has the kids' play area (PLAYGROUND), the famous Sawayaka charcoal-grilled hamburger restaurant, and the Itadaki Terrace with views toward Mt. Fuji on a clear day. Two smoking spots serve this entire section.

⑥ Near PLAYGROUND — Behind the SEIKO Store

PLAYGROUND Area at Gotemba Outlet HILL SIDE

HILL SIDE's PLAYGROUND area. The smoking booth is directly behind the SEIKO store — easy to reach once you know the landmark.

The sixth smoking area is tucked directly behind the SEIKO boutique, right next to the PLAYGROUND kids' area. It's a compact booth, and it's one of the harder spots to find if you don't know to look for the SEIKO sign. Once you do, it's straightforward. If you have kids playing at PLAYGROUND, this is a convenient option so you don't have to walk far.

⑦ Near Itadaki Terrace / Sawayaka — Indoor + Outdoor Options

Outdoor Smoking Area Near Itadaki Terrace at Gotemba Outlet HILL SIDE

At the very back of HILL SIDE, near the Itadaki Terrace viewpoint and Sawayaka charcoal-grilled burger restaurant, you'll find the final smoking spot — and it's the most flexible one in HILL SIDE. Both an indoor booth and an outdoor option are available here, so you can choose based on the weather. Many visitors heading to Sawayaka (which requires a wait system for tickets) use this spot while queuing.

Where to Buy Cigarettes at Gotemba Outlet

The only place to buy cigarettes inside Gotemba Premium Outlets is the 7-Eleven in WEST ZONE, near the Bus Terminal.

7-Eleven at Gotemba Premium Outlets WEST ZONE

The 7-Eleven in WEST ZONE — the only convenience store on-site. The tobacco case is behind the register.

The tobacco case sits behind the checkout counter and stocks major brands. This is also the only convenience store inside the outlet, so it's worth knowing its location regardless. Spot ② (near the Bus Terminal) is about a 2-minute walk from the 7-Eleven, so pairing a cigarette purchase with that smoking spot is the most efficient route.

Visitor Reviews: What Travelers Are Saying

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  [Couple] U.S. / Visited May 2026

Spot ⑤ near P7 Parking was a lifesaver. My wife could shop as long as she wanted while I relaxed with a drink from the vending machine and a smoke under the parasol. Honestly more comfortable than I expected from an outdoor smoking area. It's the only spot at Gotemba that actually feels like a rest stop.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  [Solo Traveler] Australia / Visited January 2026

Went on a grey, drizzly day and spot ③ near Food Bazaar was brilliant — proper roof coverage and right next to the food court. Had lunch, stepped outside, had a smoke in the dry, then went straight back in. Couldn't have been more convenient. Definitely the one to know for bad weather days.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐  [Repeat Visitor] U.K. / Visited March 2026

I always end up at spot ⑦ near Itadaki Terrace when I visit HILL SIDE. The fact that there's both an indoor and outdoor option is great — on clear days the outdoor one has a lovely open feel, and when it rains you just step inside. The view toward Mt. Fuji from that end of the mall is also stunning on good days.

⭐⭐⭐⭐  [Family with Kids] Canada / Visited February 2026

Spot ⑥ near PLAYGROUND was really handy. My kids were playing on the rides while I had a quick smoke nearby. It's not fancy — just a basic booth — but being within sight of the playground area is what matters when you're with little ones. I wouldn't have found it without checking in advance though.

⭐⭐⭐  [Solo Traveler] U.S. / Visited October 2025

Spot ① near P2 was really cramped on a busy holiday weekend. No chairs, no cover, and it fills up fast. If WEST ZONE is busy when you arrive, skip this one and head directly to spot ⑤ near P7 — it's a much better experience even if the walk is a bit further.

⭐⭐⭐  [Couple] Germany / Visited November 2025

Spot ⑥ in HILL SIDE was very hard to find. We walked past the SEIKO store twice before we realized the smoking area was literally behind it. I'd recommend saving the map from this article on your phone before you go — it would have saved us 15 minutes of wandering around HILL SIDE.
