① American Waterfront Smoking Area
The American Waterfront smoking area is the most central of the two indoor smoking spots. It sits just beside the DisneySea Electric Railway station, making it accessible from both American Waterfront and Mediterranean Harbor without needing to cross the park.
Head to the Electric Railway Station
Walk to the DisneySea Electric Railway station in the American Waterfront area. The smoking area is right next to it.
Turn Left Along the Brick Wall
Once at the station, follow the brick wall and turn left into the passageway.
Smoking Area is on Your Left
Continue down the passage and you'll find the smoking area on your left-hand side.

② Arabian Coast Smoking Area
The Arabian Coast smoking area is the go-to spot for guests exploring the park's eastern half. It's located near the restaurant Sindbad's Oasis and serves guests in Lost River Delta, Mermaid Lagoon, and Arabian Coast — without needing to walk all the way to American Waterfront.
Look for the restaurant Sindbad's Oasis. The smoking area is inside the building directly across from it on the left side. A tobacco symbol is displayed at the entrance — use it as your landmark.

③ Smoking Area Outside the Park (South Side)
As of April 2024, the outside smoking area has moved to the South parking area — to the left of the Park Entrance South. The previous bus-terminal-side location (North) has been removed. Always confirm the latest location on the official app before arriving, as this area is subject to change.

Smoking Rules & Etiquette at DisneySea
Tokyo DisneySea enforces a strict no-smoking policy across all guest areas. Smoking outside the designated areas — including e-cigarettes and heated tobacco — is strictly prohibited and may result in removal from the park.
- Use designated areas only: Smoking anywhere outside these 3 spots is prohibited, no exceptions.
- E-cigarettes & vapes count too: Devices like IQOS, Ploom, glo, and vape pens are treated the same as regular cigarettes — designated areas only.

Yes — but only inside the 3 designated smoking areas. E-cigarettes, vape devices, and heated tobacco products like IQOS are subject to the same rules as regular cigarettes at Tokyo DisneySea.
Is there anywhere to smoke at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland in the US?
Tokyo DisneySea and US Disney parks operate under different rules. Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Disneyland California both eliminated in-park smoking areas in 2019. At Tokyo DisneySea, designated smoking areas are still available (as of 2025).
Where can I smoke a cigarette near Tokyo DisneySea?
Inside the park, use the 2 designated spots (American Waterfront and Arabian Coast). Outside, there is 1 smoking area at the South entrance. Smoking on the street in Japan is also restricted in many areas — look for designated smoking spots near train stations or convenience stores.
Visitor Reviews: What Guests Say About the Smoking Areas
I was worried I'd never find a smoking area inside the park, but the American Waterfront spot was easier to find once I knew roughly where to look. Having this guide on my phone made it stress-free.
The Arabian Coast smoking area was really well-positioned — I could smoke without leaving the area where my family was enjoying the rides. It didn't take long at all to get there and back.
I use IQOS, and I was happy to find that it's allowed in the smoking areas. The outside spot near the South entrance worked well since I arrived by bus anyway.
The outside smoking area has no roof, so if it rains, you'll get wet. I'd recommend carrying a small umbrella just in case — or timing your smoke break for a dry moment.
The total number of smoking areas has been shrinking over the years. Always double-check the latest map on the official app before visiting — one of my group couldn't find the old spot that had been closed.
The American Waterfront spot is the most central option and the easiest to return from. If you're planning to smoke more than once during the day, this one is your best base.

Closed Smoking Areas — Previous Locations
DisneySea has reduced its smoking areas in recent years, driven by growing health awareness, secondhand smoke prevention policies, and changes accelerated during the COVID-19 period. Here are the locations that have been closed.
■ Now Closed — Lost River Delta (Greeting Trail Area)
This outdoor smoking spot was prone to smoke drifting into surrounding guest areas on windy days, and compliance with the area boundaries was difficult to manage. It has since been permanently closed.
■ Now Closed — In Front of Fortress Explorations (Mediterranean Harbor)
■ Now Closed — Outside the Park (North / Bus Terminal Side)
As of 2024, the bus terminal North smoking area has been removed. The current outside smoking area is on the South side of the park entrance. The former North spot had 3 ashtrays but no roof covering.
