Planning your first trip to Tokyo Disney Resort and staring at a long list of hotels with names like "Official," "Partner," and "Good Neighbor"? I was confused too the first time. Since then I've stayed at six different hotels around the resort, from the park-side Hotel MiraCosta to the budget-friendly Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. In this guide I'll explain how the hotel system works and which hotel I'd pick for each type of trip, with photos from my own stays.

How Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels Work: 4 Tiers, 25 Hotels

▲ Harbor View room at Hotel MiraCosta
This is the part that confuses most first-time visitors. Tokyo Disney Resort is not run by The Walt Disney Company directly the way the US parks are; it's operated by a Japanese company called Oriental Land under license. As a result, the hotel lineup is quite different from Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort in California. There are 25 affiliated hotels in total, divided into four tiers according to the guest benefits they offer.
- Disney Hotels (6): Hotels operated by the resort itself. These are further divided into Luxury, Deluxe, Moderate, and Value types. Only Disney Hotel guests can use Happy Entry, which lets you enter the park before regular guests.
- Official Hotels (6): Partner-brand hotels located inside the resort area, such as Hilton and Sheraton. A free shuttle bus runs to a Disney Resort Line (monorail) station.
- Partner Hotels (4): Hotels in the nearby Shin-Urayasu area. A free shuttle bus takes you directly to both parks in about 15 minutes, no reservation required, and prices are generally lower.
- Good Neighbor Hotels (9): Hotels in four areas of Tokyo and Chiba (Shinjuku, Koto/Sumida, Daiba/Ariake, Chiba/Makuhari). They offer a free shuttle to the parks, but seats must be reserved. A good choice if you want to combine Disney with Tokyo sightseeing.

▲ Reception at Fantasy Springs Hotel
One thing that surprises many people: Fantasy Springs Hotel is a single building with two wings at two price levels, the luxury Grand Chateau and the deluxe Fantasy Chateau. It counts as one hotel.
| Hotel | Type / Highlights |
|---|---|
| Fantasy Springs Hotel (Grand Chateau) | Luxury The top tier, connected to the Fantasy Springs area of Tokyo DisneySea |
| Fantasy Springs Hotel (Fantasy Chateau) (Official) | Deluxe Same building, a more affordable wing than Grand Chateau |
| Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta | Deluxe Built inside Tokyo DisneySea itself |
| Tokyo Disneyland Hotel (Official) | Deluxe Right in front of the Tokyo Disneyland entrance |
| Disney Ambassador Hotel (Official) | Deluxe Classic Art Deco interior |
| Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel (Official) | Moderate Colorful, playful interior at a mid-range price |
| 🇯🇵 Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel | Value The most affordable Disney Hotel |
Official Hotels (6)

▲ Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama
These six hotels sit inside the resort area and run a free shuttle bus to Bayside Station on the Disney Resort Line. From there, the monorail takes you to either park. If you're used to staying with international hotel brands, you'll recognize several names here.
| Hotel | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama | Free shuttle to the Disney Resort Line; I stayed on the Nikko Floor |
| MAIHAMA VIEW HOTEL (Official) | Free shuttle to the Disney Resort Line |
| Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay (Official) | Free shuttle to the Disney Resort Line |
| Hilton Tokyo Bay (Official) | Free shuttle to the Disney Resort Line |

Partner Hotels (4)

▲ Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay
These four hotels are in the Shin-Urayasu area, one station away from the resort. Each one runs a free direct shuttle to both parks, about 15 minutes each way.
| Hotel | Highlights |
|---|---|
| 🇯🇵 Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay | Free shuttle to both parks, about 15 minutes |

Good Neighbor Hotels (9)
These hotels are spread across Shinjuku, Koto/Sumida, Daiba/Ariake, and Chiba/Makuhari. The free shuttle to the parks has limited seats, so reserve at the front desk as soon as you check in. I haven't stayed at any of them yet, so I'm only listing them here for reference.

5 Things First-Time International Visitors Should Know
Before you book, here are the points I wish someone had told me. Most of them come from the official guest benefits page and my own experience at check-in.
- Happy Entry is for Disney Hotel guests only. It lets you enter the park earlier than regular guests, but it cannot be used on your check-in day. It applies to the days of your stay after check-in, including check-out day. If you book a one-night stay, you get one Happy Entry morning.
- Park tickets can sell out, and your hotel can help. Official Hotel guests who contact the hotel in advance can buy park tickets at the hotel even when they're sold out on the official website. Partner and Good Neighbor Hotels offer the same if you book a package plan that includes tickets.
- Send your luggage ahead from Maihama Station. Official Hotel guests arriving by train can drop their bags at the Tokyo Disney Resort Welcome Center next to JR Maihama Station and head straight to the parks. Partner Hotel guests can use a paid delivery counter at Bon Voyage in front of the station.
- Rooms in Japan tend to be compact. If you're traveling as a family of five or six, which I know is common for many visitors from the Philippines and Malaysia, check the room capacity carefully. Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay's Grande 6 room sleeps six in one room.
- The official website is available in English. Hotel details, park calendars, and ticket purchases all have English pages, so you don't need Japanese to plan your stay.

Many fans talk about the "Big Three" Disney Hotels: Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, and Hotel MiraCostaDisney Hotel. This isn't an official category, just a common phrase among Japanese fans. Of the three, I've stayed at MiraCosta. The hotel is built into Tokyo DisneySea, so from some rooms you look straight down onto the park. Waking up and seeing the harbor from my window made me feel like I'd never left the park.

▲ Discover Quintet Room at Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel
If keeping costs down is your priority, look at 🇯🇵 Tokyo Disney Celebration HotelDisney Hotel and 🇯🇵 Hotel Emion Tokyo BayPartner Hotel. Both focus on practicality rather than luxury. If you'll be in the parks from opening to closing and only need a comfortable place to sleep, either one does the job well.
The key difference is Happy Entry. Celebration Hotel is a Disney Hotel, so you get early park entry. Emion is a Partner Hotel, so you don't. If early entry matters to you, Celebration Hotel is the one to book.
For Couples and Honeymoons: 2 Hotels Full of Disney Magic

▲ Superior Alcove Room (Bay Area Side) at Fantasy Springs Hotel
For an anniversary or honeymoon, I'd choose one of the hotels that puts you right inside the story: Hotel MiraCosta or Fantasy Springs HotelDisney Hotel. Fantasy Springs Hotel stands next to Fantasy Springs, the newest area of Tokyo DisneySea, themed to Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. That theme continues into the guest rooms, down to the carved details on the furniture. Walking back to my room after dinner, I honestly felt like I was staying in a fairy-tale castle.
Traveling with Kids or a Big Family: 4 Hotels I Recommend

With children, room size and facilities matter more than anything else. Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay MaihamaOfficial Hotel has spacious rooms and a breakfast buffet with a huge selection. 🇯🇵 Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel has rooms with bunk beds, which kids tend to love. Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay and 🇯🇵 Hotel Emion Tokyo BayPartner Hotel also offer family-size room types. If you're traveling with grandparents and cousins, Oriental Hotel's Grande 6 is one of the few rooms in the area that fits six people together.

Compared with famous names like MiraCosta and Fantasy Springs Hotel, Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay and 🇯🇵 Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay rarely come up in overseas travel forums. They suit travelers who care more about access, price, and practical rooms than Disney theming. Oriental Hotel is connected to JR Shin-Urayasu Station by a walkway, which makes arriving with heavy suitcases much easier.
Guest Lounges: Which Hotels Have Them?

▲ Salone dell'Amico, the lounge at Hotel MiraCosta
A guest lounge can make a big difference to how relaxing your stay feels, especially after a long day in the parks. Among the six hotels in this guide, MiraCosta, Fantasy Springs Hotel, Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Maihama, and Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay have lounges. However, access rules differ by hotel, and staying there doesn't automatically mean you can use it. For example, Grand Nikko's Nikko Lounge is only for guests on the upper-level Nikko Floor. If the lounge matters to you, check that your room type includes access before you book.

Breakfast and dinner are easy to overlook when choosing a hotel, but each one has its own character: Oceano at MiraCosta, the dinner buffet at Fantasy Springs Hotel, Grand Nikko's breakfast with over 100 dishes, and Oriental Hotel's breakfast buffet. If you're traveling with dietary requirements, I recommend contacting the hotel directly before your stay, since menus change regularly.

FAQ
What is the best hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort for first-timers?
There's no official ranking, but for a first visit I'd recommend Hotel MiraCosta if budget allows. It's built inside Tokyo DisneySea and includes Happy Entry. If you want to save money and still get Happy Entry, choose Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel.
What is the cheapest hotel near Tokyo Disney?
Among the hotels I've stayed at, Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel and Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay are the most budget-friendly. Only Celebration Hotel includes Happy Entry, because Emion is a Partner Hotel, not a Disney Hotel.
Do I need to stay at a Disney Hotel to get early park entry?
Yes. Happy Entry is available only to Disney Hotel guests, and it cannot be used on your check-in day. Official, Partner, and Good Neighbor Hotel guests enter at regular opening time.
Which hotel is best for Tokyo DisneySea?
Hotel MiraCosta is the closest, since it's inside the park. Fantasy Springs Hotel is next to the Fantasy Springs area, and depending on your room type you can enter the park through a dedicated entrance.
Can I stay in Tokyo and still visit Disney easily?
Yes. Good Neighbor Hotels in Shinjuku, Koto/Sumida, and Daiba/Ariake run free shuttle buses to the parks, but seats must be reserved. You can also take the JR Keiyo Line from Tokyo Station to Maihama Station.
