The food court here is bigger than most, and if you grab the right seat, you're eating with a direct view of Mt. Fuji. That alone puts it in a different category. Morning and winter visits on clear days are the best — the mountain's snow cap is dramatic against the blue sky.

Chuka Banri (Chinese Food)

Udon and donburi using fresh shirasu (whitebait) from Suruga Bay. The delicate saltiness of the whitebait works beautifully with udon broth. Light enough that you won't feel heavy for the rest of the drive, satisfying enough to keep you going.
Tonkatsu Shinjuku Saboten
Thick-cut, crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside tonkatsu. This chain takes its craft seriously — if you've never had proper Japanese pork cutlet, this is a good introduction.
Sobadokoro Yoshinoya (Soba Noodles)
Freshly made soba — no wheat flour, just buckwheat and mountain spring water. The noodles are made and cooked in small batches throughout the day, so what you get is genuinely fresh. Open 24 hours.
Ashigara SA's Signature Food: The Kintaro Dog
The outdoor kiosk Sugar Mountain sells the Kintaro Dog — a hot dog made with a premium branded sausage from local Gotemba Ham. The bread is fine; the sausage is the reason people queue. Juicy, full of flavor, distinctly different from a convenience store hot dog. It's a little pricey for a snack, but this is one of those things you can only eat here, so the logic writes itself. There's also a Kintaro Cheese Dog variant, plus soft-serve ice cream.
Named after Kintaro, the legendary folk hero from Mt. Ashigara. You'll see his image all over the rest stop.

Outdoor Stalls: Wappaya & Fujimi Chaya
Don't miss the outdoor food stalls running along the exterior of the building.
Wappaya specializes in wappa-meshi — lacquerware box rice dishes loaded with local ingredients. The "Seafood Split Wappa" (¥1,280) comes with tuna from Misaki and whitebait from Suruga Bay side by side. The "Ashigara Beef Tsukune Wappa" (¥1,200) pairs charred chicken meatballs with a soft-boiled egg. Small-batch Odawara fried fish cakes (age-kama) start at ¥320 — grab a few for the road.
Fujimi Chaya does "Ashigara Sauce Yakisoba" — a house-blend sauce stir-fried noodle dish that smells incredible when the griddle is going. Outdoor food eaten roadside somehow always tastes better.

Starbucks Coffee
Starbucks with Mt. Fuji terrace views. That sentence does a lot of the work. Grab your order and head to the outdoor seats — on a clear day the view is the kind you want to sit with for a while. It's worth timing a break here in the morning before the midday crowds arrive.
GRANO VARIO (Bakery)
Fresh-baked bread, pizza, and ciabatta sandwiches. The star of the case is the "Kintaro no Chikara Mochi Anpan" (¥298) — a sweet bun filled with Hokkaido red bean paste and stamped with the Kintaro bear motif. It's EXPASA Ashigara-exclusive. They also sell dog-friendly bread snacks, which is a nice touch if you have a furry co-pilot.
Rapoppo (Sweet Potato Sweets)

This is what separates Ashigara SA from almost every other rest stop in Japan. A real onsen bath, on a highway. Using natural spring water sourced from the foothills of Mt. Fuji, the facility includes an indoor bath, semi-open-air bath, cold water bath, and a 100°C dry sauna.
The water is soft and slightly alkaline — the kind that makes your skin feel smooth after. Views from the bath look toward Mt. Kintoki, not Mt. Fuji directly, but still genuinely scenic. Dog Park at Ashigara SA
Traveling with a dog? Ashigara SA is one of the best highway stops in the Kanto/Tokai region for pet owners. There are two separate dog run zones — one for large dogs, one for small dogs — both fully enclosed with benches, water bowls, and waste disposal stations.
The large-dog zone has plenty of room to run properly. The small-dog zone has a safer, scaled-down design — good for first-timers or shy smaller breeds. Proof of vaccination is required. The dog run is accessed by going around the left side of the building and heading downstairs.
⚠️ Pets are not permitted inside the main building, but outdoor tables near the entrance are pet-friendly.
10 Minutes to Gotemba Premium Outlets
Use the Ashigara Smart IC to exit the highway and you're at Gotemba Premium Outlets in about 10 minutes. It's Japan's largest outlet mall with over 290 stores — Gucci, Burberry, Prada, Nike, The North Face, and many more — all with outlet pricing. The Mt. Fuji backdrop from the EAST ZONE is something else.
